II*級登錄建築建筑群

拜克墙, 英格兰泰恩河畔纽卡斯尔的建筑群

拜克墙是泰恩河畔纽卡斯尔东北部的一个连续住宅区，由620套复式住宅组成，呈曲线延伸数百米。该综合体将混凝土、砖和木材以多变的图案相结合，水平砖带标示楼层，彩色面板为整个建筑增添视觉变化。

建筑工程于1969年开始，以取代因生活条件恶劣而计划拆除的维多利亚式排屋。瑞典建筑师拉尔夫·厄斯金直接在工地开设了办公室，与居民交流并将他们的需求纳入重建计划。

该开发项目显示出强烈的社区意识，体现在连接整个建筑群各住宅的共享庭院和人行道上。许多居民参与了自家空间的规划，这一点在步道沿线阳台和入口的多样化设计中仍然可见。

整个建筑群仍是住宅区，只能从外部参观，不过公共人行道穿过建筑各段之间。游客可从市中心步行或乘公交车到达该地区，沿外缘步行可最清晰地看到整个长度。

该布局最初计划是为了保护房屋免受一条从未建成的拟建高速公路的影响，留下高大的墙朝向一片空地。这使得建筑具有一种意想不到的堡垒般的存在感，面向开阔地带而不是阻挡交通。
